Mugio Forest
Just a handful of steps from the lobby, you are immersed in nature.
Right behind the hotel stretches a surprisingly deep and beautiful forest. This area was once the gateway to sacred mountain trails leading to Kyushu’s highest peaks, including Mt. Miyanoura at the island’s center. It is also a precious, biodiversity-rich habitat where rare plants quietly thrive. In recent years, these lowland, primeval laurel forests, which are becoming a rarity, have attracted researchers as a rich site of diverse endangered species and a stage for the discovery of new plant life.Follow the moss-covered paths and ancient hokora shrines that preserve echoes of the past, and discover the wildlife that inhabits this lush forest.
