Mt.Tachu
A journey to encounter the Tenchu-seki Rock—a summit that connects heaven and earth.
At the peak stands Tenchu-seki Rock, a towering monolith rising 40 m into the sky.Visible through breaks in the clouds even from the distant town of Anbo, this awe-inspiring standing rock has long been revered as sacred, worshiped as a temporary incarnation of a god.Its solemn presence atop the mountain, reminiscent of a statue of Kannon, becomes even more profound the more you learn about Yakushima’s origins and geology—a form shaped purely by the workings of nature. And yet, despite scientific understanding, the peak continues to exude a spiritual presence, something unique to Yakushima.
